I have been developing and supporting web-based software written in open source languages and running on open source (linux) operating systems since 1996. I incorporated MooseTrout in 1999; since then I have focused on open source development for the library and academic communities.

Most recently, I have been working with the social networking software Elgg, the Moodle Learning Management System, and the Sakai Collaboration and Learning Environment.

1. advice on interacting with an existing open or community source community
2. advice on how to grow an open source or community source project
